I'll go for the whole scenario less the Spam. I could never acquire a taste for it although my mother tried lol

Sounds like you've lived in Hawaii...

Ha-ha, yeah, if you didn't like it as a kid, you're not likely to start now. This whole thread made me hungry, so I knocked out a double batch of mussels in saffron broth for dinner - better than Spam.

To me Spam and scrapple are greasy chopped meat products. Pork Roll is much different and not greasy.

Never been anyplace I didn't like, even Waikiki, but favorite has to be the road around the north end of Maui, where there's just a dotted line on the map. The "road" is literally carved into seaside cliffs, with 1000 ft drops 18 inches from your tires. There are no guard rails, just a 4" high curb. It's one car wide, with turnouts (ha-ha) carved in the cliff every couple of hundred yards. When you meet somebody coming the other way, whoever's closer to a turnout wedges into it. The little villages and beaches along the road are obviously utterly remote. My wife is still angry at me for ignoring her screaming and not turning back. The only experience I can vaguely compare it to is the first time you hit 145 on the Autobahn, which barely counts as it's so much safer...lol

Ah, sorry guys. I'm from N. Texas - it's definitely a regional thing. Please keep the scrapple.

wpc - do you speak of the Road to Hana - I believe it is called? Now that is a white knuckle drive - just ask my husband how we both know.

Dinner is anytime you show up! Lol

Unfortunately you CAN'T buy bragioli in PG....you would have to make it from scratch! Lol I am finding there are a lot of things I won't be able to get in PG. Thank god I have children who will still live in NYC....they will have to do a lot of mailing to me!

Yeah, I think that's the thing I miss the most. A good old-fashioned quality butcher shop.

Edit: BUT, it's not worth going back and shoveling to get it!
