Interested in building in Rotonda, and realizing I'm probably about a year late to the game.
It is what it is.
I will be doing this long distance so need a trusted contractor.
I've heard good things about Vantage and Porter
Any builder's to be wary of? Any other's I should look at?
I've run across a listing from Mission One Builders but hadn't run across them before - any feedback on them?
All info appreciated.

Never ever build a house in Florida (or anywhere else really) being an absentee owner.

That's foolish.

Perhaps, just perhaps you can hire your own superintendent....but you're crazy otherwise.

Ya, that's why all those millions of homes were built by locals so they could drive out and check on the progress of the build. I would think that good builders have a video chat update to show the progress of the build and address any concerns you might have.

oh dear Mr merindino, maybe you had a bad experience. as the owner of one of the companies mentioned I can assure you we have built many homes for people out of state ,even country without issues.

modern devices like the internet and video chats help a lot

we build many (many) custom homes (and there is a difference ) and seem to have a few happy customers

OP is right, he/she is late to the party. Right now we are looking at 18+ months to finish and crazy costs............

Others have said this....

Choose your builder wisely, if you do, not being here every minute of every day is no big deal... finance the build, even if you can pay cash. That way the bank makes sure the completion milestones are met as a condition of paying the builder. You can always come out of pocket with the cash when it’s complete.
