Well our Mango tree is now full of dead brown leaves and there's quite a few leaves on the ground from it as well. The ficus is behind a fence but there's definitely some brown on the upper leaves and even the vine growing on the giant oaks out in front look like they have some problems.
How long did we have below 32 degrees? Will these tree/plants come back or are they kaput?

Have not had a temp below 35f here in my area for years and i am north of Tampa. but right on the gulf.

All them kind of tree's can't take below 32f for long. They will come back jack after a while unless you were in the 20's for hours.

I lost most of the leaves on my calusas and I doubt the will survive. It has to do more with where frost lingered. Lower branches were more protected but lost leaves on several trees near the top. It's Florida - if it is in the ground it will probably grow. We had below freezing temps at my location in Port Charlotte from 00:00 until 08:00 on Jan. 30th. Temps were very close to dew point during that period, so frost could have been there for the entire time. If plants were shaded or not near direct sunlight as it warmed then frost could have been there for much longer.

Driving around port Charlotte yesterday, I could not help but notice all of the fresh dead looking trees, shrubs and ground plants. It must have gotten very colder there, like along veterans for instance. Also cutting their the back way to kings hwy coming from NP.

two nights in a row it got down to 32 here in Port Charlotte..I lost several small tomato plants..and have damage on several mandevilla vines/bushes..some damaged plants might survive in spite of dead leaves..give it a chance to see if anything comes back before cutting them down..

Yes, we had 2 nights of 32 where I live too. Plus the days weren't all that warm either, low 60s. Had a quarter-inch of ice on the bird bath both mornings.

In the garden, what I could not bring inside, I covered. I didn't have enough old sheets and cloths to cover everything so a few things got badly frost-bitten. Lots of dead and browned leaves. I've been told by several avid gardeners to leave everything alone til end of Feb or early March (til all frost risk is gone). Their reasoning is that the plants are shocked enough so you shouldn't go cutting them as well. In the meantime, water everything well.

I'm hoping we didn't lose our Royal Poinciana. Just planted it 3 years ago and it finally started looking like a nice tree, and 10+ feet high. All the leaves have fallen off, so we wait and hope it comes back.
