My husband and I live in the Silicon Valley area of California. We are considering moving to a location with less expensive housing, less traffic, and less drought. The "tech triangle" is one place we are considering, especially since we've heard great things about Raleigh as a place to live. But of course, we'd need to get jobs in the area. My husband works at the management level in artificial intelligence. I work at a senior level in book publishing. Does anyone on this forum know what, if any companies (he's not interested in being a university professor) do AI work there? And, does anyone know what companies do book publishing there?

Thank you.

In regards to publishing Nortel Networks has it's own onsite publishing component in regards to textbooks and manuals. I also second OUP and RH Donnelley as well.
As far as AI I would have your hubbie look into IBM and depending on the kind of work your hubbie has managed, there are several gaming companies that are looking for AI people as well (Red Storm, Virtual Heroes)
Piggy-backing on tluv's comment ...
If he's interested in working in the gaming industry, check out the website for the local chapter of the International Game Developers Association. It has links to the numerous developers that are located here in the Triangle. Triangle IGDA: Game Development in Raleigh, Durham, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
Red Storm and Virtual Heroes are worth checking out, as are Epic Games and Vicious Cycle. I know that all 4 of these companies are hiring right now.
I realize your post is from a while ago, but I am wondering if you found information about any AI companies in the Raleigh NC area. Best of fortune to you and your family!

I'm pretty certain you won't get a response. The OP had only one post over 5 years ago and has not logged on to City Data in 4 and 1/2 years.
