So can anybody recommend a nice furniture store for somebody moving to Raleigh? We are looking for Livingroom and Bedroom furniture for adults and kids... nothing cheap but durable ! Thanks
Just wanted to post my thread about furniture being made right in Virginia - nice durable quality stuff, if being made in America is important to you (it is to me ) Galax is not a bad drive from Raleigh either.
Furniture: There's "furniture row" on Glenwood that has all of your typical stores: Haverty's, R2G, Roomstore, Home Comfort, etc. There are also some on Capital near the Spring Forest intersection. We got our couches from Sofas and Seats, and couldn't have been more thrilled with our purchase or the customer service. Not mentioned in the thread that was bumped is Colfax out in/near Greensboro. They have a lot of the same things that Ashley/Home Comfort has, but for a good bit less. I'm talking $200 - $600 on average, sometimes more.
Cable is pretty much TWC, Dish, and Directv. There are a few areas that have u-verse, so it depends on where you move to. Home phone/interest is ATT, CenturyTel (used to be Embarq), TWC, and Clear. There's also Vonage for home phone.
Cell phone is Verizon, AT&T, T-mobile, Sprint, and one other that I can't remember (all I can think of is firefly... but that's not it). Basically all of the national carriers.
For furniture we've had great luck with Whitley Galleries in Zebulon. It's about a 20 min ride from Raleigh; but worth it.
Time Warner is the only game in town for cable. I was not happy with their prices and quality of service/equipment and recently switched to Directv.
I still have TWC internet and phone. The internet has been horrendously slow in my area. They advertise speeds of 7mb/384 for their Roadrunner service. I haven't been able to get better than 5mb/150.
I've had no problems with Verizon Wireless in the entire area.
