Try to avoid I-40 and 440 tomorrow if you are travelling in west raleigh near the RBC center..
"The RBC "Get Motivated!" seminar starts at 8 a.m., during the morning rush. It ends at 4:45 p.m., during the afternoon rush. It will be sold out.
The 18,000 people coming to the RBC won't travel three or four to a car, as smart sports fans do. They'll go mostly solo, in nearly 18,000 cars, straight from home.
Raleigh police, state troopers and school, transportation and emergency management officials expect traffic backups worse than what Raleigh sees during ice storms and hurricanes. Worse than when N.C. State University plays a home football game during the State Fair."
it was all over the local news tonight. why would people subject themselves to this kind of torture only to sit for hours while hucksters try to separate them from their money?
I'll definitely be taking the back roads tomorrow. . . . my commute takes me on I-40 between Gorman and Airport Blvd each day. Thanks for the heads up NRG.
Ugh. My husband usually takes the routes they suggest as the alternative routes. He gets frustrated in traffic and bails onto the side roads. He doesn't have a GPS, so he calls me and I'M the GPS. Tomorrow should be fun!
Re: the traffic, I went by there at about 9 and 4:30 and there was NO traffic. Maybe everyone was avoiding the area? I was watching the traffic cameras around 8:30 and there was nothing then either.
I sat in massive amounts of traffic this morning on 40. The only other routes I could find on my phone were all as bad ... everything to get out of the area seemed backed up. took me an hour and 20 minutes to get to work. Usually takes me 30-35 in morning traffic
