I have one 18 year old quarter horse mare and I am moving in January from boston to the Durham area. I need somewhere to board her for a reasonable price. She needs to be in a loving and safe place with people that i trust. I do not want her to be used for lessons. Does anyone know of anywhere that fits this description? I really need help because she is my baby and I don't want to have to giver her away.

Try posting on the NC Horse News forum. I think you will get more responses there. They also have a Classifieds section that includes ads for boarding barns.

What mizunomom said. I don't know of many boarding facilities that will use your horse for lessons...too big a liability, since they don't know your horse. Also don't expect the "best" for dirt cheap...board is expensive in the Triangle.

NC Horse News is a good start.

If you post what you believe "reasonable" is, we might be able to point you in other directions.

Private facilities, as in only a hand full of horses, also will post openings on Craigslist in the farming section.

Its hard for me to say what is "reasonable" because I am from boston and what is cheap here is insanely expensive in NC. I have a barn in my back yard so I have never paid to keep a horse somewhere before. I just need something that is safe for her doesn't have to be the very best of the best. She isn't a kentucky derby winner or anything. haha. Just well loved and i just really don't want to find her a new home! THANKS!
