Here is elusive information to me. Maybe it's easy to find...please help. I am trying to find out which elementary schools feed into Davis Drive Middle school. There may be others I will research in the future. Everyone has input about quality of schools in Cary, both positive and negative,so thanks for that. However I simply want to know what elementary schools feed into the middle school. Why is this information hard to find? Anyone out there know where this information is? Opinions are great, but these facts are essential to my decision making. p.s.- yes I realize it may all change in 2 months, but I still would like to know. THANKS ahead of time!

I don't think you can necessarily say that "x" elementary school will feed in "y" middle school. It's by NODE if I'm not mistaken??? For instance there are kids who go to Laurel Park El this year .... some of them are scheduled to go to Salem Middle and some of them are scheduled to go to Davis Dr and there may be other schools in the mix.

I am pretty sure that the only definite feeder is Davis Dr - Davis Dr.

Yes. I believe that you are correct, and WCPSS does not provide a nice way to correlate this. You would probably have to do it longhand.

For example. . . . . here is the node map for Davis Drive Middle.

http://www.wcpss.net/school-directory/attendance-maps/391_M_DAVIS_DR_MS__2011_12.pdf (broken link)

Copy down all of the nodes that feed to this middle school. Then, find all of the elementary schools nearby and look at their node maps to find any that correlate to Davis Drive middle also.

Yuck

Presently, WCPSS is using a "node" system like twingles stated, and school assignment is determined by the node in which you reside. WCPSS is currently working towards a system which uses feeder patterns and "choice". (The "choice" part is an illusion, but I am straying off-topic.) There are meetings at various high schools this week to discuss the new assignment plan. Here is a link to the most recent draft of feeder patterns which shows Davis Drive Elem. and Green Hope Elem. feeding into Davis Dr. Middle School.

Here is info about locations for this week's public meetings about student assignment:

The others are right -- study the node map.

We live in the Oxxford Hunt subdivision of Cary (main roads include High House on one side, Maynard on another, West Chatham on another, and Castalia right through the middle).

From our address, Davis Drive is the closest middle school (2 mi). East Cary MS is a close second (2.9 mi). Reedy Creek tops out at 4.8 mi. Guess which node we're in?
