I just had the TWC tech come out and fix a problem I was having. I have the Turbo plan 15/1 with Powerboost. And it ended up being a combination of things...the Surfboard modem they gave me was on the fritz (and not one they even support anymore), the line from the street needed to be re-run, and my new Cisco router had some wireless issues. Other than a few lingering issues with the router's settings, I seem to be alright.

Of course, then I remembered that my $44.95/mo promo expires this month and my bill is set to climb to about $70/mo. Yikes, that's gonna be tough to swallow. I had been doing the Earthlink to TWC dance for awhile...and I see that Earthlink has a 15/1 plan and if I deal with them directly, it's $40/mo then only $50/mo after that. Perhaps I'll just continue on that route. Or call and threaten to cancel TWC, and see what they can offer. Only thing they could do for me last time was cut my speed down and it came out about $15/mo cheaper..which just wasn't worth it.

Or $50/mo for that plan if you can get them to put you back onto promo pricing

I tried, but had already gotten promo pricing on the digital phone, so they wouldn't stack the promos

I think it's different for me. I don't have TV or phone thru them.

In fact, I think they just tweaked the pricing structure a bit and got rid of the Powerboost or whatever it was called.

Now, for someone with just standalone internet thru TWC, it costs...

Standard 10down/1up - $57.95
Turbo 20down/2up - add $9.95
Extreme 30down/5up - add $20
Wideband 50down/5up - $99.95
Basic 3down/1up - $40.95
Lite 1down/1up - $30.95

So, I'm guessing I fall under their Turbo plan...which comes to near $70/mo for 20down/2up.

Looks like they're also trying to discourage people from going to Earthlink because their 7down/1up service is the same price as TWC's 10down/1up. BUT, that's if you sign up for Earthlink through TWC. If you deal with Earthlink directly, they still offer their 15down/1up service for $40mo/6 months and only $50/mo after. Yet it's nearly $70/mo if you go thru TWC and you're only getting 10down/1up.

I never understood that TWC/Earthlink partnership. And when I call TWC, it sounds like alot of their reps don't understand it either.

Wow...and looking at their pricing guide...I can't believe that it's now $70/mo for just a standard broadcast (channels 2-76 or whatever it is) package. Prices are getting out of control. It'll probably only get worse if TWC ever decides to start charging based on total data consumption. Ugh.

Turbo should officially give 15/1 here in the Triangle, up from 10/1 on the Standard.

Standard rates are ridiculous, fortunately it's pretty easy to get on a promo, especially if you're bundling. They dropped mine by $20 a couple of months ago when I told them I was switching to U-Verse, and I was already on a promo rate before that.
