I just relocated to Cary and unfortunately for my green thumb I am stuck in a teeny weeny 2 bedroom apt!

I was wondering if anyone knows about any garden space for rent or community gardens where I can grow veggies for my family.

And if anyone has any opinions on any of the CSA's available in the area that would be AWESOME.

Thanks!

E

Ditto Lamishra. Cary Pocket Garden is up and running! If you're in NW Wake, the Morrisville Community Garden is in process and should be planting by mid-April. We'll be in a temporary location this year but will move to permanent quarters next spring. www.morrisvillegarden.org

The Advocates for Health in Action website has a comprehensive list of community gardens, pick-your-own farms, wake county farmer's markets, and CSAs in wake county. Enjoy! Thanks to this thread, I just signed up at the Covenant Community Garden in Fuquay. I went this morning to see it and got to meet Joy who runs the garden. It is run by the Fuquay United Methodist Church, but you do not have to be a member of the church to join the garden. The fee was $10 a year for a family and all that is required is that you work 4 hours a month in the garden to partake of the harvest. Whatever is left over goes to the Fuquay Food Pantry.

It's a beautiful garden and quite sizable. There are compost bins and piles. There is a beehive, a bean teepee and a spring fed pond that they use as a water source. They had cabbage, onions, garlic, diakon radishes, leaks, lettuces, beans... I am so excited to work in this garden!
