Why is it that West Cary gets the reputation as being "rich"? I think West Cary has alot of diverse income levels. Am I missig something? Also since Wake Co. does not have neighborhood schools in place, this statement seems to be without basis. In fact, kids from the Brier Creek area attend Panther Creek. I guess they're "rich" too
You used the word "rich", not me. I find the word subjective. Wake may not have "neighborhood schools", but the majority of the students in a given school (not necessarily the magnets) are still from a base area, which is geographically defined. Hence Panther Creek gets much of its enrollment from the west portion of the town.
I am sure Cary is diverse in income levels, but that does not mean it's evenly distributed across the town. Look at a rough measure of the relative affluence in several parts of the town:
Average adjusted gross income (per tax-filing household, 2007)
Zip/$
27511/68,971
27512/59,920
27513/81,056
27519/105,886
We looked at Apex. I'm sure it's a good school as they all are but, it seemed a bit over crowed, older school w/trailers. Didn't find the staff too eager to assist us.

Doesn't it really boil down to the student and how hard they want to work?
My sisters graduated from Cary HS in 1989. Neither went to college.
I graduated from Sanderson High School in Raleigh in 1999. Graduated from Appalachian State with a BS in Criminal Justice.
Who received the better education?
