I live by a huge lake ....its DUCKS AND GEESE! If you feed them, they tend to only go towards where the food came from. Weirdly enough, its true! I made the mistake of buying gorgeous patio furniture and have an open area where they walk in, I fed them and had poop all over the place (yes it has the white at the very end). I feel kinda gross knowing its duckie poopie. lol
I immediately thought it was those "skanks" or geckos, especially when you said they were small in size like mice (vs. geese...those deposits are huge, argh.)
There are 2 kinds of these little lizard things. There are the blackish lizard type animals with a dark blue stripe down their backs..they scurry around fast. My neighbor called it a "skink" or "skank". The boys loved em.
The other thing was bright green and had a red fan type of skin webbing that protruded from it's neck when they became alarmed. They love to warm in the sun. I think they turn brown/green when its darker.

Reason: eta...meant to add...sorry to resurrect this one!!!
I find these droppings on my deck. This is the third dropping. But it is about inch long and has a white part at end and rest is dark. It is some kind of feces from an animal. Does anyone know of this by chance? It actually is shaped like mice poop but bigger and white tip and rest dark black/brown. I tried looking it up. Snakes is one that I found that might be it but not sure. Anyone have this on there deck or anywhere?

I have not been to this thread in months. Been so busy working. Tonight, I finally came on and had a messege about this thread I started and found this post and looked at the picture of the skink poop and yes, it is that poop. Lizard poop. who knew..lol. Thanks for info. Yikes, now I hope no lizards get inside.
Me too. I try to keep the garage doors closed at all times and they still manage to sliver inside the garage. Yikes. Glad I was able to help you solve your dilemma.

I was cleaning my garage today and found the same thing in the corner by the door. Thanks to this thread, which was educational and entertaining at the same time, I don’t have run to Home Depot for rat poison.

Keeping the dog or cat in the garage usually works better as a deterrent, if not a free snack for the pet. My mom's dog particularly likes the tails on skinks. Otherwise, if you can catch them, put them in your garden. They do wonders for insect control in your garden!
Hi, I live in Australia and have had the same mysterious poop on my balcony and very occasinonally under our bed. We've had mice before and they don't look quite the same due to this white tip at the end. We've set traps and found nothing. If you find out what it is, please re-post as I'd be keen to find out too! thanks
