I guess the only way to know is to visit the farms and see for yourself...

I would say that if you're trying to upgrade from factory beef from the grocery store, you'll probably have some degree of sticker shock. I encourage you to give it a try though--better for you, better for the animal.
I know what you mean but it seems kinda funny to say that it is "better for the animal"!

Ha!

Yeah, I think the animals that have been treated inhumanely all their lives are probably more happy to be slaughtered than the ones who have it good, in a pasture...

Doing my part, eating Smithfield Pork all day, every day....

FWIW, there are no approved hormones for chickens. "Hormone free" chicken is a marketing term, as all chicken you buy in the US is hormone free by default.

FWIW this thread is four years old and I'm sure OP has long gotten what they were looking for. Were it not for a shameless advertisement by TwinOaks, this thread would be long dead and buried.

I never bought meat at the Raleigh Farmers Market. Actually, I didn't know that they sold meat there. I only buy veggies, fruit, plants and honey. Thanks for the tip! I do buy meat regularly at WF and their grass-fed beef is approx. $8.99 or $9.99/lb depending on if they're running a sale. It's also very good beef.

A: At that place next door to the authentic New York deli and the 24 hour diner.
