I am looking for a restaurant with a lounge-type atmosphere for a large dinner. I am looking for someplace with a modern feel, and a separate room where large parties can dine. A DJ is a definite plus. Someplace like Shaba Shabu, but I want more options.

Anyplace in the Triangle is fine. Thanks in advance!

Could you define "mid priced" for us? That would help us narrow things down a bit.

Solas has plated menus for large parties that are pretty fair and good. I hosted an anniversary dinner there in the Fall and it was an execellent choice. They have a tiered pricing structure that allows you to control the costs per person.

Winston's is a great local restaurant.

Sullivan's? It's right near Solas. I've been to several functions there in the past that were quite decent.

Definitely not a mid-priced restaurant.

Eh, I'm still waiting to find out what the OP considers "mid-priced" and also what he/she considers a "large dinner."

I think maybe the OP and I disagree on what constitutes "mid-price".

Thank you so much for the suggestions...any ADDITIONAL ones are appreciated! I stopped and looked at the new place on Falls of the Neuse that used to be Michael Dean's (Tribeca? Traverna? Something or other...) today, and it has a nice room where a little party could take place. I've only been to Solas once, but I may go check it out for lunch.

What do I mean by mid-priced? Ummmm.... Not quite Ruth's Chris...but not Cook Out. I really don't know what I mean by that, not super-duper, prom or anniversary expensive, but someplace with perhaps a separate room, and a "lounge" atmosphere or a DJ are a plus.

As for "large dinner"...Ummmm.... more than ten...but fewer than 100! I don't have this thing terribly well-planned out. This is going to be a semi-impromptu graduation party.
