Hi we are relocating to clayton from California next month. We love to grill tri tip beef roast out here in California. Does anybody know if this cut of meat is available anywhere in the Raleigh area? Thank You

The only place I've seen it here is at Trader Joe's. Tri-tip is still basically unknown to most people outside of California, though.

You don't see it often... check with the meat dept in a local Kroger store to see if they can get it.

If you can't find it at your local grocery stores, try The Meat House. There's a location in Raleigh and one in Cary. They should have it.

It's the bottom end of the sirloin. I used to buy it years ago for a Sunday roast (English meal). I would think you'd find it around here.

Earth Fare has it. I tried it because someone else on this forum had asked about it a while back. It tasted like a rump roast or a sirloin tip to me.

We have grilled an excellent cut of tri tip last weekend. Bought it at Costco. I've also seen tri tip at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's but they don't have it all the time.

If Tri-tip is the same as Sirloin Tip, then Harris Teeter has them on special this week for $4.47/lb, although it looks like they may be selling them as steaks instead of the entire roast.
