They got kicked out of Europe. Looks like RTP is becoming destination of choice for companies in this type of business. Sad news.
"The company is moving the division’s headquarters in response to a “lack of acceptance” from consumers, farmers and politicians in parts of Europe for its genetically modified plant products, said Stefan Marcinowski, a member of the company’s board of executive directors, in a prepared statement."

2 years ago, Monsanto open a lab in Kannapolis research campus.
That's good news for bio-ag people in this area. More jobs is always a good thing.
Still don't get why people are afraid of "engineered" plants? The myths and rumors are simply silly. People have been doing this type of thing for decades, it's just gotten way more scientific now. Crossbreeding plants used to take years.

GM was introduced only 15 years ago. Asbestos was in use for a century before it was banned. I wouldn't count Germans as silly people for forcing these countries to move out.
I also don't understand why congrats are due when nothing need to be done to attract these companies. I guess if Siemens had moved its nuclear operation to US instead of shutting it down then we would have fireworks.
The Central Dogma of genetics might not be correct, actually. There is some recent science behind the belief the GM foods are dangerous. It's not just "myths and rumors".

Probably because the people that run Monsanto are a bunch of jerks with unethical business practices.
