Wow! I've never seen the setup like the SHP had going today. There were two troopers on either side on the bridge, standing and using radar both ways, east and west. There were 3 SHP cars waiting on the on ramps both ways waiting for the signals. There must have been a lot of problems on that section lately for that amount of presence. Honestly, I've always encountered way too many people going under the speed limit in that section. (Travel it every day)
Be careful and watch your speed. Now - if they would just target the aggressive drivers! (and no - I didn't get pulled over. I noticed this because 751 is where I get onto 40 every day)
Huh, I wonder if that's legal (for one cop to gauge your speed and another to issue the citation). I know for a fact that it's not legal in California on Hearsay grounds (the citing/arresting/ticketing cop never actually observed the infraction, and is going solely on the word of another person, therefore the court will throw it out).
I'm sure it's also a lot of anticipation for the local "spring break" traffic headed to the beaches. It just seemed excessive. That area isn't usually known for high speed. Aggressive drivers... oh, yes. Wonder where they will be today?

I wish the would monitor the reckless driving around the mall, along Fayetteville and Herndon instead. At lunch time they could rack up tickets left and right.
As pointed out by other people, it's not the rate of speed that they should be overly concerned about, it's the drivers who are cutting off other people, right up other drivers tailpipes, and any other aggressive behavior that causes the accidents.

Seems like an easy solution to that would be to make radar guns that print out the recorded speed so there's a paper trail.
Anyhoo, I wish they would set this up in my neighborhood for the people going WAY too fast down the hill!

We have no idea what the troopers' set up is. Every car i've seen has a laptop, nothing saying that the reading doesn't appear on the issuing trooper's car. I dunno.
When I lived in FL the cops would set up near construction sites. Hardhat, orange vest and all. They would put the radar on a tripod so it looked like surveying equipment...Pretty smart if you ask me!
Edited to add...I have no problem with officers getting creative as long as they are within their jusrisdictional and legal limitations! Anything that makes the roads safer for me and my family are fine in my book.

It's legal. Where is the hearsay? Both officers show up to court and testify if you bring it to that point.
They had a big trap setup on Weston Pkwy in Cary at the end of last month. Luckily they had a bunch of people pulled over already before I came by so the officer wasn't even clocking people anymore.
