Does the Triangle have pan-handlers that stand on the freeway off ramps? In Portland, they stand with signs, hoping for handouts while you're sitting on the off ramp waiting for the light to turn green. A few months ago, I saw a grizzled old guy with a sign that read "Why lie? I just want beer." That made me chuckle, and I gave him a dollar.

I think those guys make the most. I've seen tons of the 'money for beer' or 'money for weed' types of signs - generally a popular west coast theme.

But no matter how many I've seen it, I've heard even more people reward them for their 'creativity'.

I don't give panhandlers money but I do feel sorry for the poor black dogs with them in the hottest part of the summer. Once I handed the guy a bottle of water and said "This is for the dog" He seemed pretty ticked but the dog was obviously hot.
