Hi. Moving to NC from Northern Mich soon. Our family likes to take our 4WD truck out on forestry roads and backtrails. We'd like to continue our mud-throwing in NC, but don't have a clue where to go. Any advice about access, permits, etc?

I remember there is a private park somewhere near Lumberton for muddy-trail driving. However, I can't find the reference. Maybe these folks can help: index

The Uwharrie National Forest also allows off-roading. See the bottom of the page in this list: http://www.riderplanet-usa.com/atv/t...olina_list.htm

Check out NC4x4, there is also a list of legal spots to wheel there. Where to go wheeling - THE complete list of Legal Wheeling places... | NC4x4

The short answer is nothing around the triangle is legal, however URE is only about 1:30 hours and would likely suit your needs.
