Any recommends? The office my dentist referred me to wants $140 per seating, meaning if I go in for an eval and options, and I have the work done that same day, the 140 will be part of the total, while if I get the eval, leave to talk over options and return for the procedure, it will cost an extra $140 for the seating charge.
I'd like to be able to go over some details with my wife as this is not a $200 procedure, could be as much as 2 or 3 grand depending on what my plans pays etc.
He's down by Rex Hospital but H.H. Hancock is my neighbor and a really good guy. I have not personally needed his services (sorry that you do!) but someone else on city-data used him and liked him a lot.
Thanks for the info. I dont have a problem paying at the time of service, but to pay an extra seat charge if I do decide to get a procedure done, but on a return visit is not right. They are forcing me to decide in the chair, at the eval, to go ahead with some procedure. The office person we talked to is giving me a cost on a treatment over the phone without even seeing x-rays or knowing exactly what the issue is. Sounds like an assembly line operation. My dentist is sending me to get options since there are probably a few ways to handle it. Like I said, it's not as simple as a filling.

Sounds like a car salesman with a "today only" deal.
Any legit doctor would not discourage a second opinion or thinking the treatment plan over before deciding.

So true. Sometimes just extracting the tooth is the best choice. Not all root canals save the tooth and, of course, a crown and support pin are normally needed after endodontic treatment.
Consider all dentists as thieves until they prove themselves honest. I had to search like Diogenes to find an ethical dental practice.
Dr. Rutter is amazing - Home - Chapel, NC Endodontist I hope to never need her again, but if I do, I know I'd be in good hands. Her Google reviews and Yelp reviews are really good, too.
When I used her a few years ago, they did ask for 50% up front even if you have insurance that pays more. However they promptly refund anything you've overpaid once the insurance pays their share. That's annoying but honestly, I can see how specialists totally get shafted by their patients. Dentists aren't the only ones who are crooks - it works both ways!
