Guess that means the plans for Union Station are officially dead.

I wonder where they're moving the train station to then. My understanding is it was supposed to go in the old Dillon buildings.

They were supposed to. I inspected those buildings about 7 years ago for the purpose to be used for the train station. Guess that fell through? They were in bad shape back then, in the one section the roof was completely gone. It's going to be interesting to see Citrix renovate them to what they are showing in their plans. It's also going to be interesting to see if this prompts more warehouse conversions, or if it will bring more demolitions to make way for condos for the new employees.

I love seeing this reuse of older building downtown, as opposed to building another office complex in suburbian hell.

There are several old Dillon buildings. I'm assuming that there are plenty to go around for Citrix and the train station.

Citrix is buying this one from TTA though, which would lead one to believe it was the one for the station.

(Updated) Does the good Citrix news mean that Raleigh's grand Union Station plan is dead? | Citizen

Yep, you are correct, these are the specific buildings I inspected when they wanted them checked for asbestos before moving forward with plans for the train station.

The Union Station project is still happening - these are two different buildings (Dillon had several). In fact, the city was recently awarded a Tiger Grant specifically for the purpose of developing the train station.

Raleigh Union Station Receives $21 Million TIGER Grant - The Official City of Raleigh Portal

You can see from that article that the building for the proposed Union Station is at 510 W. Martin Street, whereas the Citrix building is located at 120 S. West St. according to this article: Citrix to locate hundreds of workers in Dillon Supply Warehouse - Triangle Business Journal.

TTA has apparently owned most of those warehouse buildings for some time. Nearly all of S. West St. is warehouses from Morgan to Martin, so there are quite a few buildings to go around!
