OK, y'all helped me out gong to Durham the other week, so I'm back asking again. I have to be at the Friday Center this Friday 10/5 at 9 AM. I will be coming from the 40/42 area (I40 exit 312). Traffic I know is usually pretty bad around Lake Wheeler Rd all the way to RTP. Any suggestions on back roads, or should I just suck it up and leave the house around 7:30 and hope I'm not late??

If you are coming from around FV, you could take 751 as an alternate. I sometimes do that in the mornings if there's a bad accident on 40. But if you're coming from east of 40 I don't think that would save you any time at all.

No, I am coming in from the Cleveland School area. I had thought about taking 1010 to Cary and figuring a way onto 54, but w/ the stoplights an all, I didn't think it would save any time.

54 definitely wouldn't save you time at all. Much slower going than just dealing with the traffic on 40.

7:30? Heck, I would be on the road by 7:00 at the latest, just to be sure I make it. Traffic is slow enough during rush hour, but one wreck that blocks a lane will set you back 15 minutes minimum.

The only suggestion I have is to take Cleveland School Rd up to NC 50 into Garner, then US 70 into Raleigh, and get back on I-40 West there. It doesn't go fast, but it flows, unlike the I-40/70 Bypass mess.
