My mom wants a fruitcake for Christmas. We tried Claxton's ---not a fan.
Where do you buy yours? I saw Southern Supreme advertised
in the N&O. Any reviews? Other good sources. Nothing super fancy,
just good and edible. Please no "DOORSTOP" jokes.

I saw some in the bakery section at Whole Foods. Not my thing, but might be worth a try.

Maybe do a fruitcake tour of the world. Pick up a stollen from Guglhupf, panettone from Trader Joe's, etc

I'm sure Southern Season carries a selection...I was in there a week ago, but fruitcake wasn't on my radar...You could call and ask.

I think I might have one in my freezer you can have. I just have to chip through a few years of built up frost, but I'm sure it's as good as new.

Otherwise, I have seem them in the grocery store (e.g., Harris Teeter) around this time of year in the past, but can't say for certain if they are available now/this year.

Southern Supreme is good, and I'm not a big fruitcake fan. It has a lot of nuts and a little fruit and cake . They are in Bear Creek, NC, if you ever want to visit. They ahve an open house every eyar I think in Oct or Nov. You cna order online. I don't know if there's anywhere local you cna buy it or not. I know they go to lots of craft shows, festivals, etc.

I love their chocolate covered pecans and pecan brittle and butter pecan crunch! Oh, I cna go on and on but I won't.

Another yes for Southern Supreme. Pricy, but very good. More like nut cake than fruit cake. You can order online or I've seen them at Fresh Market in the past couple of weeks.

No help here...just an ole Claxton fan myself. I always loved getting a slice from the fridge and washing it down with a glass of ice cold milk.
