Oh, in my earlier post, I forgot to mention the area's cemeteries as great places to go on Christmas, or other major holidays. This afternoon I was riding my bike around the downtown Raleigh area and ended up riding through Mount Hope Cemetery, Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery, and Raleigh City Cemetery (actually, I didn't really ride through City Cemetery, but just walked the bike through; those old paths there are lovely, but not at all bicycle-friendly). All were delightful, peaceful places, suitably contemplative in tone, with nice views of the downtown buildings, and basically nobody around but me and the deceased. I know that's not a bar near Crabtree Valley or Brier Creek, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Regardless, what a nice day, Christmas or not!

I was there, there was no live music, but they expect to be open till midnight.

Rally Point in Cary is also open till close at 2AM.

I too had a nice bike ride today! 30-ish miles of lightly travelled roads and greenways, plus two pints of really good beer.

I had big plans to take Mom and Dad to the arboretum...then I slept like a log for 3 hours, drooling on the pillow. Thus our last minute scramble to find a place to eat. Looks like we are going to go get chinese.
