Any recommendations on where to buy a new, decent treadmill?

My husband has been looking at a 3.5 HP model - probably spending ~$1500.

We went to Dick's and he was interested in an EPIC model, but the service was horrible and some reviews online indicated that Dick's aren't the greatest if there is a problem once you get the equipment home.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Why not wait until a few weeks after Christmas. Many, many people will have tired of their new ones. It happens every year.

I was going to suggest CraigsList, but then you said "new".

Our gym uses US Fitness because you need a gym quality machine if you want it to last.

Mass marketers sell low grade stuff that will not last under regular use.

Home treadmills are a waste of money.

I'd suggest going with an elliptical trainer rather than a flat treadmill. My husband bought his elliptical at Sears. Good selection, and the price was about $800-900.

Our gym paid US Fitness $3400 for a really good gym quality Vision Fitness elliptical. I use this unit daily, and Sears is not even in the same league.

Good quality equipment is necessary for serious fitness training. Don't flush your cash on junk.

I've had an elliptical from sears for 10 years and it's still great and around the $800.00 price range. The ones at the gym are obviously nicer, but they are being used all day long, every single day, by multiple people.
You dont' need a $3000.00 piece of equipment for your own home use.

I agree most of us don't need professional quality equipment. However, the OP can decide how much they want to spend.
