No matter what you have, go see Dr Thomas at Triangle Foot and Ankle. I have struggeld with PF for years now. I went to him begging for surgery and he talked me out of it and finally got it under control!

So I went to them and it was Achilles tendonitis. However they gave me a boot with air pressre thingy. They billed the insurance $600 for that boot! That exact same boot model # is like 100 bucks outside. They NEVER gave me the option of buying it myself? The net I'll pay after insurance I bet is going to be well over 100! (Edit: that very boot is $63 on amazon!). This doctor's office is history for me!

You may want to go to a different doctor to get a 2nd opinion. That's ridiculous what they charged out for the boot. I'm sure the ins. company will not flinch an eye though.

So everyone is aware, this is what triangle foot & ankle (Dr. Thomas) billed my insurance.
The code they used are:
99203 office visit new pat - $145
L2116 CAM Walker (the boot) - $600
73630 - foot radiography 3 views - $100
To add to that, this is just uncomfortable, makes my feet hot and I don't find it taking the load off my heel. I rather get some simple crutches. (Where can I buy one?)
Sorry about the rant. How does one deal with poor service from such doctor offices?
I still see him ( still go to him!) and also got a boot for my PF. I don't think I ended up paying very much for mine, my insurance must have covered most of it. I've been to MULTIPLE podiatrists in the area trying to fix my feet and I found him to be competitivley priced (and also the only one who fixed my problem).
As a patient, you need to do your own homework before accepting any devices like that. You need to ask how much it will be billed for and know what your insurance plan will cover. The doctor won't care if you say "no thanks" and that you will get crutches or a boot off Amazon.
The boot works differently than crutches and definitley helped my heel pain,. The foot muscles needs to be streched all the way to the heel, crutches will not do that.
