Just curious, does all of Wake, Durham, Johnston, and Orange county get electricity from the Sharon Harris nuclear power plant located in southern Wake County? Are there other power plants in this area? If so, what counties or towns do they serve?

According to this map the "Northern Region" is also getting power from fossil plants in Chatham County and Harnett County.

Coverage Area - Progress Energy

There is more info on the individual plants here: Power Plants - Progress Energy

It looks like they are mostly coal.

The Cape Fear power plant is coal, and that's directly up-wind of the triangle. That plant scares me more than Sharon Harris, because coal plants release something like 100 times more radiation into the environment than nuclear power plants (since coal itself contains trace amounts of radioactive elements)...
