Didn't think a park was planned on the Hwy 98 side. I know the park that's going in off Falls of Neuse will adjunct Old Hwy.98.
My guess is the Army Corps of Engineers are simply selling the timber to keep the woods healthy. I know they will burn off the brush as well.
I thought that was Forest Ridge park at first as well until I went online and saw the plans which shows that park will be south of the area that's being cleared on the other side of the lake. I'm curious what they are doing there as well as it appears to be more then simply clearing a few trees to keep the forest healthy. They have clear cut most every tree in that area and in some places have clear cut nearly to the edge of Falls Lake. I did not think that was possible so close to the lake due to water quality concerns. It would be great though if it were a park!
I believe that that area is simply being thinned and the trees sold off for lumber. Could be wrong but would be surprised if a park were going in there as it leads to the end of a cove on the lake that will be nothing but mud when the lake levels get low.
