I have been trying to find squash blossoms. I asked every vendor at the state farmers market and none of them sell squash blossoms. One vendor at the Western Wake Market told that they occasionally will sell them but not on a regular basis. I was wondering if anyone has found them at any of the other farmers markets around the area.

Have been to the Durham Farmer's Market and have seen them at one booth - made some delicious stuffed squash blossoms last year! Sorry I don't remember the name though! I would bet that someone at the Carrboro Farmer's Market has them too - Durham and Carrboro have more "exotic" offerings than at the State Farmer's Market in Raleigh, which definitely caters more to the general crowd. Until this year, had only found garlic scapes at the Durham market.

Proof they were offered at Carrboro last year: http://cookingtwins.blogspot.com/201...-leads-to.html

Was at the North Hills Farmer's Market this morning looking for my supplier of Padron Peppers but they weren't there. Asked another booth (where they had a sign labelled "The Pepper King" and they hadn't even heard of them.

I did see them at the Carrboro Market earlier in the year. Haven't been in a week or two so couldn't tell you if they were there more recently.

I have to admit that I have never heard of anybody eating squash blossoms. Maybe I should have gotten off the farm a little more often.

Stuffed with a melty cheese and lightly dipped then deep fried...they are delicious! First time I had them was in Napa/Sonoma area several years ago. They were so delicious that if I ever see them on a menu anywhere, I always have to try! It's hard to get the proper dredge and deep fry at home without a deep fryer. But very tasty!

They are good, but takes too many to fill me up. I think I will let my squash be born, THEN eat it fried.

Hey...I'm not knocking it. I love melty cheese, batters and deep fried. I'll be looking it somewhere

Thank you all, I will try the Durham and Carborro markets. Mskb is right they are delicious!. I bake them and add them to pasta dishes. Although, you can't go wrong with anything stuffed with cheese and fried!

just got my Market Bulletin from Carrboro Farmers market and Whitted Bowers Farms says they will have squash blossoms today. It opens at 3:30 but vendors are set up way before then. I'm sure other vendors will have them as well.
