It's probably worth noting that Schiano's is not owned by the same people who owned it in the 90s, so maybe that has something to do with then "finally being able to" change the name. I'm not sure when it changed hands but I do know it was some time after 2001.

We used to eat at Schiano's in the 90s and got to know the owners. Don't know when the one in Pleasant Valley changed hands, but they do own the one on Strickland Rd, although we never been there. But that may have something to do with the name change as well.
Since Crabtree is celebrating its 40th birthday does anyone else remember when Schianos was located there? I think it was where Mitchels hair styling is now.

I sure do when I moved here about 30 years ago from NY I went there all the time. My girlfriend Terri introduced me to Schianos and I loved it.

I don't know about that, but I still can't go to Crabtree without getting a bit remorse that I can't get a sandwich from.....
CRAP, now I can't remember the name. German sandwiches and an excellent beer selection. I loved that place!
Oh, I have no idea about Schianos though. I used to eat there all the time in the mid 90's. Very good! There, and Andy's Pizza on Millbrook and Falls. I remember going there one day and the old man (Andy?) was hiring a new cook, and had him sat at the booth next to me, sharing all of his secrets. I'll never give them up, but I still use a few of them myself. Damn that was some good pizza! (Also mid-90's)
