Sacred groves provided me some much needed advice a few years ago, when in the middle of summer I had a damp crawlspace (visible water condensed on insulation):
1) go to local HD or lowes. Take $20.
2) Get the thickest plastic sold, and vapor tape.
3) Cover 100% of the crawl space floor.
4) Seal the vents - I used rigid board and great stuff.
Total time: ~3 hours. Results - humidy is ~ the same as the conditioned house above.
The above was all it took. Since I had left over plastic - i did the walls as well. I also decided to get a crawlspace dehumidifier - just in case. It never comes on
You can also go to a cement supply company and get vapor barrier. I bought 15mil thick stuff hoping that I won't have to do it again . Be sure to overlap the material and use a good tape to tape each seam. I added the dehumidifier as well.
If you don't like crawling under your house contact SacredGroves. Crawl space work is not for everyone.

Have fun

Better yet go to a speciality store and get thicker stuff. It will last a lot longer, especially if you ever need to walk or crawl on it. I would also add a crawl space rated dehumidifier to the list and make sure it's really under control.
Target Industries at Tryon and HWY 70 carries 10 mil for about $80 a roll. They also have standard 6 mil for $39 a roll (1000 sq ft). 6 mil is pretty resilient, I crawl on it every day. 10 mil you would have to try really hard to damage it. For the minor difference in price, I would go 10 mil though. It also looks better when installed imo.
^^ Man I wish I knew that before! $80 for 10 mil is a DEAL.
