What do you know about Chatham County, as far as what it looks like, and what I'd expect to see? As I understand it, Pittsboro is the main place of interest? What's there? Good/Bad? Thanks.
Chatham county is really growing, but I believe they are trying to control the growth as much as possible. Pittsboro (one of the main towns) has a nice downtown area, plus there is a lot of building going on just outside of downtown. There is a great place, the chatham food coop, just outside of downtown. Plus they just built a lowes home improvement, an ale house, and it looks like more is going up.
The schools have a good reputation, and it is growing as the town is growing. I believe that Pittsboro and the surrounding area is trying to get a handle on their growth. Developments like chapel ridge are 10 minutes from a grocery store, and 30 minutes from chapel hill. Southern Village (housing, plus businesses and restaurants) is about 20 minutes from pittsboro.
It is a great area that still feels rural but is getting more and more conveniences.
I absolutely Love Chatham County! The people are warm, the scenery is spectacular, and its a great investment. It has changed a lot in the past few years and is going to change even more in the future. I used to say that "Pittsboro is the perfect Mayberry" but no longer. I still have a lot of business dealings and land for sale there. Here is a link to one of my websites with more info and I have even more upon contact, thanks. We would love to live in Pittsboro. I love the area, and you can get a lot more land for your money. I work in downtown Raleigh tho, so I think the commute would be a little more than I'd want.
