As ADHD is quite prevalent in pediatrics, I would think any pediatrician worth their salt would be sufficient. I'm certainly not trying to downplay ADHD and making sure your daughter receives proper care, just that most PEDs see it frequently and thus are adequately prepared to treat it.

That said, I would highly recommend Raleigh Pediatrics. They have two offices; one in North Raleigh at Falls of Neuse & 540 and a second in Garner. I know MANY people who take their kids to this office, myself included, and all I've spoken to have been very pleased.

I would take her to a good child psychiatrist first at Duke and then switch over to peds once the meds are stabilized.

Here are a couple links:
Duke ADHD Program – Parent & Family Clinical Services – Evaluations, Consultation, Classes, Treatment, Management

Also get a good neuropsych testing report done. Sometimes children can look like they have ADHD when they actually have other learning/cognitive difficulties.

I agree with Omamia. Nowadays too many Peds quickly diagnose ADHD and it can sometimes be something completely different. A Psych test usually gets a more definitive answer and proper steps from there. Being a former child with ADHD (now I am an adult with it ) it's best to find out the correct diagnosis and then go from there. Good luck!

If you are in the Raleigh area I strongly suggest you investigate the practice called Growing Child Pediatrics started by Dr. Jim Poole, a long time Triangle resident. His practice area has many physicians and locations including:

* North Raleigh
* Knightdale
* Clayton
* Wake Forest
* Zebulon
* Brier Creek
* New Hope
