The content and attitude of his talk, and the reception from the COC, will teach us more about all involved than squashing free speech in a private venue could ever do.
I would probably go, if I was a Cary COC member, not to fawn over a jock, but to see if he offered up enough unmitigated humility and regret to satisfy me.
And if he doesn't, I am still completely unharmed.
He committed a crime, he served his sentence. Let him move on. To be honest, his crimes pale in comparison to lots of others in the NFL.

But, he did his time, lost millions of dollars as penalty, begged his way through bankruptcy, and still, he had better show great remorse and shame and humility. He'd better, indeed.

Yeah it pales in comparison to murder, rape and domestic abuse. I can think of numerous NFL players who've committed those offenses.

What do "Champions" have to do with the COC?
What does any portion of the event relate to the COC objectives?
It is a networking event aimed at members of COC. They hold them all the time.
Best thing to do is to weigh in with your COC directors, and possibly not renew your membership next year.
