I posted an earlier thread asking about certain areas with school districts in mind (I'd still love any feedback about Youngsville? I keep coming across houses that are in Youngsville, but the high school is Wake Forest, and I'm wondering if buying there would be a mistake or not?)

Part of the feedback I received was that the market is moving into a seller's market - is it in specific brackets, price-wise?

We're actually looking in two different brackets because my parents are moving with us as well, but into their own place. Is there a better town for retirees verses where we're looking (wake forest areas) because of the schools, or do the two cross over well? My parents are in their 60's, but looking to be a part of a community (my mother is a social butterfly, looking for a community with activities that she can participate in when she's able - handicapped. My father is a tech-head and still working as a programmer, and has a telecommute job so can live anywhere.)

Actually, any feedback for retirees looking for a community to be a part of, safe, social, and so on would be great!

Thank you!

Can't comment on the school neighborhoods.

As far as retirement areas, Wake Forest has plenty of retirees. (It's the main source of new members for the Raleigh Newcomers Club).

Reading the description you have of your mother, I can't help but think they should consider Carolina Preserves or (better location, IMO) Carolina Arbors. Both are Del Webb communities, 55+ with the usual clubhouse, pools, clubs, entertainment, landscaping included, etc. Neither have a golf course.

CP is completed, so they would be looking at resales. CA just opened last year and are selling a lot of homes, many different sizes, floor plans and price points.

There are a few other retirement, 55+ areas, Fearington Village (Pittsboro), Chapel Wood (Chapel Hill), and a few others. Where we live, Regency in Brier Creek Country Club, is not age restricted but was marketed to seniors, hence heavily populated with ages 50+, at least half of whom are retired. One spec left, and one resale currently on the market. We totally love it here.
