Is there anything really interesting/exciting/different happening this "long" weekend (including Friday)? I know that's kind of loaded, but I sometimes miss calendar events in the news until after they happen.

I was wondering the same thing. We're staying in town this weekend, and all of the kids are elsewhere. What should we do?

Last year we found marble was fairly empty, I would imagine it would be the same at the other museums in the area (for older kids).

The fun continues Friday at the NC Museum of Art. Peter Lamb and the Wolves will be playing the tunes for Art in the Evening and the Sound Bite will explore how focusing in on a subject can change your perception of it. Come back Saturday night to see this years Oscar's Best Picture winner, 12 Years a Slave.

You are invited to an Opening Reception Friday evening at the Halle Cultural Arts Center honoring five local artists. The show will run until October 3rd.

Head on over to Downtown Historic Hillsborough for Last Fridays. This month's celebration will feature a concert by The Company Band on the Old Courthouse Lawn and the Mt. Bright Baptist Church's Gospel Choir at the Burwell School Historic Site.
