AT&T overall is good, maybe not as good as Verizon but it's good.

Yes, AT&T offers it's 4G service thru its MVNOs. Straight Talk, Net10, AIO, and GoPhone are all options off the top of my head.

I have used Straight Talk and Net10 in the past. ST used to have a promotion (might still be in place) that gave you the unlimited talk/text and now 3 gb of 4G data for $42.50 with autopay. If desired you can put in a zip code of a state that charges minimal tax on prepaid services, putting the total monthly bill around $43.25/month.

The neat thing about prepaid is you can buy a sim card from Straight Talk for a couple bucks, buy a month of service, and just not pay again if you don't like it (assuming you have a GSM phone already).

That being said, if you can get 4 people or so on an AT&T plan and have a corporate discount (mine is 23% IIRC), running the numbers with the bill credits you get by switching, I came out with an average of around $38/month for unlimited talk/text and 2.5 gb data on the AT&T family plan split 4 ways. Also Straight Talk and other MNVO's run their data through a proxy which slows down the 4G a bit, it's not as fast as true AT&T post-paid service. Much better than 3G, which is all I'm used to though.

You have to take a look at your options and see what's out there.

Check out Republic Wireless.

It's not for everybody ... you have to understand the networks - there's something about not paying an arm & a leg for wireless service anymore!

So far (4mths so far I think), no complaints. Looked at all the other phone options and felt like we were taking a risk with this option but it has turned out to be great - phones are great and coverage is awesome.
