I'm going to look at homes in Wake Forest tomorrow. Are there any sections/neighborhoods of Wake Forest that should be avoided? We are looking for homes under $180,000.

Be sure your commute won't be a nightmare. Check at the times you will travel.

In that price range? No, not really. Some say bad things about the Du Bois section of Wake Forest....but even that isn't bad.

PS: While the commute down Capital, at peak times, can be a pain at times...it's not as bad as the people that have never lived in Wake Forest make it out to be.

True. I commute down Capital around 7am. Today, being a holiday with no traffic, I made it to work in 30 minutes. On a normal day it takes me 40 minutes. Hardly a big deal.

So true! Plus there are many side street ways to commute from WF to anywhere in the triangle. Of course folks who have never lived or visited there wouldn't know this

Very true!

It goes back to what we were discussing in another thread...people's perception and opinions aren't always based on facts or experience!

I totally agree with the others that I live in the WF area and traffic/commute isn't as bad as those who don't live here make it out to be. There are some great back roads depending on where you live and even if you can go slightly off rush hour it helps tremendously.
