Looking for recommendations for a personal financial advisor available for fee for service. No contract.
Thanks in advance.

I have not used any of these folks, but it sounds like you want someone that charges on a per-hour or per-job basis. If so, start here

Too important a decision to limit yourself just to the BC area. Hell, ours is located in Hendersonville, NC and we used her when we lived in Phoenix!

A close friend praises Chris Vasques. His office is in Fuquay but he lives in Cary and is willing to meet in your house.
Four Oaks Bank and Trust Company - Christopher Vasques

For me, the best financial advisor is me. Call it good judgement or call it dumb luck, but my portfolio bounced back from the 2008 debacle faster than most. My secret is no secret at all. Being risk averse, I invest conservatively. This means accepting lower yields in exchange for less risk.

Ric Edelman has a good article on how to choose an advisor

That's a good reason to choose a financial advisor who works on a flat-fee basis, as mentioned by OP.

Thanks everyone! Yes, we are well aware of this and this is exactly why we want to hire someone fee for service who does not benefit from our investments.....just advise based on our portfolios, ages and remainder of time until retirement. We are currently with a large well known financial group affiliated with Duke (we both work there) but want sound personal advice from an outside source.
