Most of the game publishing company he was working for was just laid off. The funny thing was I was just chatting with some at the city data ladies night yesterday about what an unstable field the gaming industry is. We felt comfortable relocating however given the company was over a decade old. Moderator cut: removed Thank you

Very sorry to hear about that. I wish I had some helpful information for you, but I really know nothing about the gaming industry.

I can certainly relate, though...I'll be re-interviewing for my job in 2 weeks...I can hardly wait.

Best of luck to you and your family as you work through these challenges.

So sorry to hear it!

I did a little consulting for a company in game developing middleware, so here are the few facts I know:

* There is a Triangle Chapter of the IGDA (International Game Developers Association). There is a list of members here: Triangle IGDA: Game Development in Raleigh, Durham, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina and a meeting coming up.

* Epic's middleware "Unreal Engine" is doing really well,

* Red Storm, a division of Ubisoft, is in Morrisville.

Good luck!

Try this website:

Triangle Game Initiative

They had a job fair in Nov BUT it lists the names of software companies and consultants in the area. You should be able to get the names of a few good companies from that. Good luck!

Laura,

I am so sorry! We are in the "waiting in limbo" stage now as we wait to find out whether my husband will still have his job in a couple of weeks, the one that brought us from Michigan to NC.

I will keep my ears and eyes open for you. Best of luck!
