So we are moving to Cary by the end of this August. I would like to have all of my daughters extra-curricular's in place so we can try to make it as smooth a transition as possible... so here are the requests... Hope you can help!!!
1. We need a piano teacher, home lessons, either his/her home or ours - currently, I pay $15/30 min per lesson, 1 time per week and pay for materials. She's only completed 1 year. Her current piano teacher is a retired music teacher with advanced degrees in piano specifically.
2. Gymnastics- so my daughter's been pursuing competitive gymnastics for the last year, but is having a hard time with the upper body strength! She's extremely tall for her age (54 inches, 8 years old), so there's that, but she doesn't care! She works hard, and it kills me that she still can't get on those bars. Anyway, she walked away from dance (i wanted a ballerina), and begged for gymnastics... so... I was thinking that maybe she would enjoy acrobatics more. Any ideas? What about gymnastics places? Any ideas there?
3. Someone told us that swimming is huge in Cary, so she told me she might want to try a swim team.. she's completed level 4, and is on level 5 in Swim America... any ideas there?
4. Community theater... ok so this is more for me... I love theater and I love stage managing... ??
Gymnastics - there is Team Attraction Gymnastics and Peak Gymnastics.
Town of Cary has a theatre program - go online to see their brochure or go to Bond Park to pick one up.
Swim Team - TAC and RSA for year round. Not sure what the others are for year round.
Can't help you with piano. Everyone in my neighborhood uses someone who lives here in the neighborhood. Check around once you're moved to see who the people closest to you use.
Wake Forest has a community theatre. The Heritage neighborhood has several Olympic-sized pools, so I imagine they are in-touch with swim teams. Can't speak to Gymnastics.
cary has a youth community theater through the town of Cary's Applause! Youth theater program. And the Cary Players for adult theater. chrck out their website for volunteer positions! But there are tons of other local theater opportunities in other cities and towns.
I don't know what the options are in Cary, but wonder if she would like Aerial Silks? There's a place in Chapel Hill that quite a few kids we know go to. It's sort of a combo of dance and Cirque Du Soleil and uses some gymnastics/tumbling elements, too. Probably there's somewhere in Cary/Raleigh that does silks too, if you're interested.

POPPYDOG, this sounds awesome!! Can you give me more info... Name?
I'd look for "aerial dance" or "aerial silks" and "Cary" or "Raleigh". I'm sure something will come up there that would be closer to your new place.
The place in Chapel Hill that I'm thinking of is called the FlowJo, but driving from Cary to Chapel Hill/Carrboro could get pretty tiresome. Pretty sure there's bound to be something along those lines in Wake County, too.

Cirque de Vol in Raleigh on Hargett St. My daughter trained for almost 2 years...gained a lot of confidence (and upper body strength!) Excellent program and instructors.
