There is a proposal in place for a new grocery store property on Olive Chapel and 540. Any one know if there is a specific tenant in mind?

Also, any other new grocery stores in the works for Apex?

I am curious to know more about this proposal. If the targeted grocery anchor is 45,600 or 49,098 square feet and has a pharmacy drive through service, it is likely a Publix. If it has a fuel station, it could be a Walmart Neighborhood Market.

The grocery store is indeed 45,600 square feet, with a drive-through.

It is Publix.

The Point, the proposed retail center, would be on the northeast corner of Kelly Road and Olive Church Road. Publix's A-side, the front, would be facing west toward Kelly Road. The B-side would have the pharmacy drive through. The C-side would be the closest to Interstate/North Carolina Highway 540.

That would be a great addition if it would be a Publix. Although I've never been in a Publix, the idea of more shopping choices is great. I guess we'll see.

The plan has not been approved yet and may take a while. Is it Publix for sure, or was that an educated guess?

The site is between Kelly and 540 and on Olive Chapel. So it is NE for Kelly and NW for 540.

The square footage of a store, the inclusion of a pharmacy drive through, and the inclusion of a fuel center can be helpful on making an educated guess. Both Publix and Walmart Neighborhood Market are opening new stores with pharmacy drive through. Only Walmart Neighborhood Market has fuel centers between the two banners.

Publix has opened several stores are 45,600 square feet in size. The grocery tenant for The Point is consistent with new Publix stores that have opened.

I don't know of a Walmart Neighborhood Market with a fuel center attached. They are stand along grocery stores, with a smaller pharmacy.

Not all Walmart Neighborhood Market stores have fuel centers. The first two Walmart Neighborhood Market stores in South Carolina do not have them.

Just FYI, the only officially announced yet-to-open Publix stores are a second one in Cary and one in Wake Forest.

Speaking about the "Publix Super Markets Locations in Raleigh, North Carolina" page, the page link has been renamed to include all northeast North Carolina stores.

The Point is likely the first of other store sites under consideration or soon to be announced across the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Combined Statistical Area.
