Hi-- soon-to-be Raleigh resident here! I was wondering if anyone had information regarding condos at Lake Johnson, at The Oaks Dr? Seems like a neat area to live, but that's guessing from afar... I know, I'll visit before anything is decided, but I just thought I'd put the feelers out!
They are in a great location, walk to the lake. Some are in variable condition, ie used as rentals in the past. There are a couple for sale right now and one I saw on Craigslist for rent. When I have been there it seems quiet.
I looked there 7 years ago when i was buying a townhouse. It ended up being #3 on my shortlist, but it was mainly becuase of the units for sale at the time... not the development.
Nice location by the lake, close to I-40 and 440 and easy to get to downtown Raleigh or RTP. The community was nice and I have been by recently, still looks quiet and in decent shape.
I sometimes regret not buying my first place either there or across the street in the starter homes (those were just going up at the time I was in the market, or I probably would have gone that router - I really wanted a stand alone house).
Lake Johnson remains one of my favorite places in Raleigh. I used to go there all the time in college - to walk, to lay out in the sun at the dam, to jog, to bike, to girl watch. I like it so much still that I'll drive from my west Cary home all the way over just to go for a walk, even though there are lots of closer options. Actually went over there yesterday to enjoy the spring-like (60s) day we had. It was probably the most people I've ever seen walking around out there.
