FYI Raleigh area rent increases are going up, just like much of the rest of the country where jobs are good. Our rents have gone up 16.3% in the last 5 yrs compared to a national average of 15%. Luckily this isn't NYC where rents have gone up 50% in the same time period. The article urges new starts for more lower priced houses.
I think this will ease up a bit over the next year or two as there are so many apartments being built due to the high rents. When they come on line, there will be downward pressure, especially on older complexes as they will need to renovate or drop prices to stay competitive.
