Right, you couldn't do it at peak hour, but during dinner hours it's not a problem.

Straight down hwy 70 then a right on Hammond Rd. Or from Fuquay, straight down 401N. EASY PIEZY.

But I do agree with sittingonamtntop to a point, which is why I've suggested Garner to the OP. It gives her the proximity to things they enjoy within the housing cost they have chosen.

What about the time it takes to leave your neighborhood and get on 70 or 401?

Sorry not buying a 20 minute trip door to door.

You are correct. You would need to add on the 2 - 5 minutes it takes to get out of your neighborhood and onto the highway.

So already that's pushing 30 when you factor in red lights, getting to the highway, and traffic.

Plus I would imagine it takes most people more than 2 minutes to get to the highway from their house.

Okay whose going to hold the stop watch and shout "start your engines"?
I think what we are saying is that it's very close and an easy drive to downtown Raleigh if your living close to the 2 main arteries. If you live further out its going to be a few more minutes. Just not anything too consequential. I know I cleaned a property out in Harnett county the other week and from that house way off hwy 55 basically Angier, taking 401 straight through Fuquay to Conn elementary which is just NE of downtown was a GPS quote of 34 minutes.

Again, my point is why would you live 30+ minutes away from work/social activities when you don't have to?

Waste of gas, money and time IMO.

I think the area around Lake Wheeler might work for the OP. Only about 15 minutes from Raleigh, 10 minutes from Cary. Larger properties. OP could search around Enchanted Oaks (although Enchanted Oaks itself might be out of the price range.)

Because.... 1/2 acre plus, 2500+ sqft, < 300K

That's what the OP wants. Might not be the same as what you want.

That's why I reccomended Garner earlier in the thread. I also agree with your recommendation of the area around lake wheeler.

What does what I want have to do with the OP? I'm giving my recommendations based on job location and what I thought are their interests. Nothing new on this board, right?
