It looks like WCPSS is considering a few new policies that could make it more difficult and risky to request a transfer to another school. The policy changes would give school more authority to reject transfer requests and it would expand the list of schools closed to transfers. On the risk side, parents who transfer their kids to a particular school would be subject to that school's reassignments, which they aren't now. The most likely scenario I see from that is that the students who transferred in from another school in the county and don't live in the vicinity of the school will be the first reassigned when the school gets crowded, which I think is only fair. Thoughts?

Sounds like a good policy to me. Sounds like they are slowly moving towards taking control of the system and it's about time. It's just too big to let people decide to send their kids here there and everywhere. You simply cannot let the parents run the district.

And there are plenty of schools that are not capped that shoukd not be accepting transfers.
