Mikethiele,
All of those cities are in the same district called Wake County Public School System (WCPSS). wcpss.net
Unlike other parts of the country where districts are affiliated with individual cities, here everything is one and the same.
Depends on what your criteria are for good schools. But as far as WCPSS schools go, the majority of schools in those areas are good. If you're simply looking at test scores, I'd bet that the further north and west you go, the higher the scores get. The further west you go, the higher the likelihood that you will be capped out of your base school though.
just try to avoid the davis drive schools - they only got a 6 on greatschools.
Disaster averted! According to tempville in the other thread, there was apparently an error on greatschools and DDES has now been given a 10. (As I type that, I hear the southern twang of Billy Bob in Varsity Blues yelling, "I give it a ten!" Anybody else remember that movie?)
Nearly everything in Western Wake is a safe and high quality bet.
If your kids are elementary or middle school, you'll need to decide if you want year round or traditional calendar.
The Davis Drive thing is a joke, btw. Davis Drive is mostly very affluent Preston (as in country club) area people, and while it's a good school you can hear the faint hum of helicopter parents if you listen closely. HA!
Oh, and Apex Middle looks like a Juvenile Detention Center, but is actually a fantastic school. It's rather popular as it's Traditional Calendar as well, and probably always will be because the building is too old to house students in the summer without them melting in the gym.

I can only imagine the barrage of emails greatschools received over this.
