I've googled it and came up with only a dead website address. Anybody have any information, please?

a canoe, a rowboat, a kayak? A powerboat? Never heard of such a thing. A pontoon/party boat - heard of those being rented

It depends on the boat, here's an active site for Kayak rentals for Falls / Neuse River (I've never used them) -

Rentals | Paddle Creek North Carolina

The marina at Falls used to rent pontoons. It's called Rollingview, and it looks like their site is down. But that's your best chance.

Call them:

Lake Crabtree in Morrisville, not far from the airport is small but nice. They have boat rentals, small sailboats, kayaks, canoes.

Just to update the thread - we took a drive up to Falls Lake yesterday and visited with Rollingview Marina. The have not rented boats in about 6 years. They do rent wet slips and dry storage, but only on an annual lease. Easy place to launch a kayak, if you have your own, and the sandy beach swimming area was a nice little surprise.

Nice looking lake, but the water is not as clean looking as Kerr Lake. But it's much closer.

The lakes in the Triangle area are very shallow, so they have a "muddy" or "dirty" appearance. But, on the upside, they are much closer than Kerr Lake .

For kayak rentals, you could try Frog Hollow Outdoors. They have travelling outposts throughout the summer:

Triangle Traveling Outpost

Beaverdam on Falls Lake is especially nice since gas motors are not allowed on that part of the late. They book up fairly early, so definitely plan ahead.

REI also rents kayaks, at very reasonable rates.

Falls lake is shallow on the north side which is where the marina is located. From Hwy. 50 to Hwy. 98 is basically a flooded Neuse river and from Upper Barton to the dam is pretty deep. I was on the water yesterday and saw a depth of 56 so it's by no means shallow.

A peak depth of 56 feet isn't all that deep, especially when most of the lake remains rather shallow. Don't get me wrong - it is great to have a lot of reservoirs near the Triangle area .
