Totally serious.

I planted milkweed for butterflies, and it's covered in yellow aphids. I can order ladybugs from amazon to eat the aphids, but maybe I can buy them locally too? Do you know?

Yes, I am a complete weirdo.

I think you want ladybug larvae. If I recall correctly they eat more than full grown ladybugs. I ordered some ladybugs one time when my kids were little. They were fun!

Can't help you on the lady bugs, but am curious about the milkweed. Where did you get it? Did you grow from seeds or did you buy plants?

I am a bit of a weirdo myself!

I had a neighbor once that spayed with soapy water to get rid of them. She used liquid dish soap. Not sure of the ratio to water. She used a pump up sprayer.

I had ordered seeds from Save Our Monarchs...

Get Seeds

...but my dog ate the seedlings.

Then I bought a plant from Niche Gardens.

Haven't seen any monarchs, but this morning I noticed they are absolutely covered in yellow aphids...

I does work well for aphids and is cheaper than buying ladybugs. BTW I once saw ladybugs sold at Garden Supply in Cary.

Got mine a few years ago at Garden Supply. Took care of the aphids. And, the Lady Bugs come back each year. Probably helped a lot of neighbors too.

Thanks all!

You know what, I ended up cutting away the milkweed entirely - it was too close to my tomatoes and completely covered in aphids :-/
