Holly Lakes Shopping Center is a 51,521-square-foot retail center planned at the southeast corner of Sunset Lake Road and Lassiter Road in the town of Holly Springs in Wake County, North Carolina. It would be anchored by a 21,405-square-foot specialty gourmet grocer, The Fresh Market.
Holly Springs Town Council approved plans Tuesday, 20 September 2016. Construction is projected to begin in November. The Fresh Market could open in late 2017.
No, all the Town Council sees is green. They have ZERO infrastructure concerns even though it now takes 30 minutes ot get anywhere on the by-pass these days due to traffic. Their supposed fix, super streets (stupid street) will do nothing to resolve this issue.

The bypass would be so much more with full movement intersections instead of the super street intersections (from a traffic engineering perspective) but the main problem is all of the stores and retail that is going out along or near the bypass.

I am not a fan of superstreets. They provide additional signalized intersections for making u-turns or completing cross traffic. That adds more unnecessary time.

When we look at superstreets, we calculate how much time it takes for the average car to clear the intersection (lefts, thrus, rights) vs. the average car to clear the intersection AND make the U-turn (thrus, rights at the intersection and lefts going through and then making the u-turn and coming back around to the other side). The large majority of the time where superstreets are implemented, it is faster to make the U-turn than waiting at the light (believe it or not). It's just perception because you have to wait at 2 lights.
I like the superstreet. Quite often I'll go through all 7 lights without getting stopped. At most I get stopped at one light. And then I continue south where I am pretty much guaranteed to get stopped at both Avent Ferry and Ralph Stephens, every time.

Maybe DOT will add those stupid traffic meters/lights to the superstreets (like they are planning to do on the beltline) to make them even worse. I have driven where they have them in Atlanta, and they are truly a terrible idea. I guess they are for the same people that didn't understand how to turn left at a solid green light, and we had to replace them with flashing yellow arrows. Don't people have to pass a driving test to get a license?
